2016 – Patient with history of pheochromocytoma-induced heart attack undergoes successful adrenal surgery at Mount Sinai Beth Israel

Year of procedure/evaluation: Joyce Marchetta Bisso

From the moment I spoke with Dr. William Inabnet, I felt reassured of his expertise and the exceptional quality of the Adrenal Center. From the trepidation I had upon the diagnosis of a pheochromocytoma to the confidence I had in the surgical team, I was on an intense personal journey and felt supported by everyone in the Mt. Sinai-Beth Israel community who served me. Administrative assistants, Angelika Arroyo and Dawn Howai, were ever patient and responsive. Every care giver I encountered exuded concern for me. The surgical team, led by Dr. Inabnet, was incredible in every way, not the least of which was the skill with which my surgery was performed. Dr. Soma Thiagarajah expertly administered anesthesia and monitored my blood pressure, and Dr. Amit Sastry assisted in the procedure and was a comfort post-operatively. All the nurses and support staff were amazing! Having suffered a heart attack and having been diagnosed with diabetes, both precipitated by the pheo, I am very grateful for the knowledge, skill, and collaboration of the medical teams that saved my life. Thank you, all!
